Description
On Tuesday, February 2nd at about 06:30 in the morning Randy Watson, the Lead Range Master for Mansfield Police Department and a 23 year veteran of the department, was involved in a devastating car accident. Randy was on his personal motorcycle traveling on FM 2738 in Johnson County when a vehicle attempted to pass a school bus in a no passing zone. While the vehicle was attempting to overtake the school bus he entered Randy’s lane head on.
Randy was first struck on the left side of his body and motorcycle. He then went into a skid for several hundred feet before coming to a stop in a ditch. Randy suffered such severe damage to his left leg that a passerby had to apply a tourniquet to his leg until emergency services arrived. Once he was stable he was transported to JPS by CareFlight. He immediately underwent emergency surgery that resulted in the loss of his left leg.
Since the initial surgery, Randy had a second surgery and the doctors expect he will need at least two more. Randy has a tough road ahead but through prayers along with love and support from his family and friends he will return to work with the assistants of a prosthetic leg. Randy and his family will be faced with the loss of his off duty income as well as many unexpected expenses.
Any help we can provide this well deserving family to relieve some of the financial burden from them during this difficult time would be a huge blessing. Thank you in advance for your help.
